No, a marquee is far more wind resistant with the sides on rather than off. For some reason there are many people who believe that leaving the sides off a marquee ‘lets the wind pass through’. I will try to explain below why this is not true and why leaving the sides off of a marquee actually makes it far more susceptible to the wind than leaving the sides on.

Heavy weights: Using heavy weights strapped to a marquee is the most popular method for anchoring marquees down on hard surfaces. Any heavy weight should be strapped directly to the marquee, try and avoid using straps down to a weight a short distance away from the marquee in case the weight moves and the strap can loosen. Marquees are only designed as temporary structures, if you have them up for a long time then certain precautions should be taken. Checking it regularly for signs of wear & tear, checking the strength of bungees, making sure there is no water or snow gathering on the roof, not leaving it up in extreme weather conditions. All common sense stuff really.
