What is galvanised steel and why is it used in marquee frames?

Galvanizing is one of the most widely used methods for protecting metal from corrosion (rust). It involves applying a thin coating of zinc to a thicker base metal, helping to shield it from the surrounding environment.

Why Galvanize?

Quite simply, galvanizing a metal gives it anti-corrosion properties. Without the protective zinc coating, the metal would remain exposed to the elements and potentially oxidize and corrode much faster.

Is Galvanized Steel harmful/toxic?

In its finished form, no, galvanized steel pipe, buckets, tubs and other galvanized household products present no toxic risk to adults, children, plants or animals.

The only way in which galvanized metal can present a risk to humans or animals is if they are exposed to zinc through ingestion (eating/drinking) or inhaling (breathing air).

Galvanizing in Marquees

The framework on all of our DIY Marquees are galvanized to prevent corrosion and give the structure a longer life. It is considerably more effective that powder-coating.
