Calculating the exact marquee dimensions for a party or event can feel tricky, but breaking it down by layout makes it simple.
When hosting 30 guests, the space you need depends entirely on whether your guests are seated at round or trestle tables and whether you plan to include additional features like a buffet table, bar, or dance floor.

1. Seated Guests (30 People at Round Tables)
Normally, you seat 10 people per 5.6ft round table. For 30 guests, you will need 3 round tables.
Each 5.6ft round table requires roughly a 3m x 3m (10ft x 10ft) footprint once chairs and guest seating space are factored in.
- Basic Seated Layout: You are looking at a 6x6m, 4x8m, or 3x10m marquee roughly.
2. Adding Extra Features (Buffet & Dance Floor)
If your event includes food service or evening entertainment, you must expand the framework size to accommodate the extra foot traffic and equipment:
- 30 People + Buffet Service: Upgrade to a 6x8m marquee.
- 30 People + Buffet + Dance Floor: Upgrade to a 6x12m marquee to ensure ample space for dancing without crowding the dining tables.
3. Round Tables vs. Trestle Tables
It is worth noting that long trestle tables are less space-efficient than round tables. Because trestles require linear pathways and continuous seating runs, you will generally need a longer marquee layout if you choose trestle seating for 30 guests compared to 3 round tables.
